Megeen & David met through mutual friends in Brooklyn and truly became best friends. They began dating and eventually settled in Greenpoint where David’s family had history dating back to the 1900’s. Home became more than a physical place, it was the space between them, a creation of love, trust and comfort. David proposed in Bermuda where Megeen’s father had worked and they had vacationed often. It was a rainy trip but when a few hours of sun prevailed they hopped in the water and David felt the moment was perfect to propose.
They enlisted the help of Darryn Murphy of Sickles Market in Little Silver to plan their at-home tented wedding in Fair Haven. The wedding took place at Megeen’s family home and we were over joyed to be a part of it! The day flowed with such ease. Megeen wore a delicate lace Anna Kara gown with a veil that has been passed down in her family from generation to generation. Lambs and Wolves Salon of Red Bank did a beautiful job on hair and makeup styling Megeen in a loose chignon with a few face framing locks and a soft natural make up with a slight pop of a berry lip. Darryn created hand tied loose bouquets in tones of white, cream and accents of burgundy incorporating roses, mattholia, dahlias and eucalyptus.
For the ceremony program a drawing from David’s aunt depicting a common view from Greenpoint, Brooklyn gave a touch of history. Paul David provided a beautiful tent and Darryn brought in rustic barn tables and wooden chairs tied with silk pashmina’s in grey, cream, and burgundy. Grey linen table coverings and rustic silver vases overflowed with creams and deep merlot red flowers. Three wooden circular hanging light fixtures and live trees brought in under the tent offered a sophisticated, organic appeal and the view of the setting sun on the Navesink River was the perfect backdrop. They enlisted their musical friends from Rhythm Shop for their wedding band and David surprised Megeen with a special song at the end of the night as a camp fired warmed the guests.
